Dr. Alan E. Beck

Donated from the library of Dr. Alan Beck (1928-2020), a founding faculty member (1958) of the Department of Geophysics (now Earth Science) at the University of Western Ontario. He was born in England, received his PhD from the Australian National University and was Head of the Department of Geophysics from 1963 until his retirement in 1993. He was an active member of the university community - higher learning and geophysics were both passions. He was honoured with the J. Tuzo Wilson Award, lectured widely and was a respected member of the global geophysics community and a formative influence for many scientists.
