A listing of just over 855 Harris photographs/images housed within the Western Archives Regional Photograph Collection (AFC 49) is available below. The numbers assigned are RC#s (Regional Collection) with the applicable box reference noted so a request can be made to view original photos.
Harris Albums
The Harris albums are described briefly within AFC 48-SF1-S3-SS1. Listings are provided below that include RC#s (RC80000s), subjects and other fields. This includes Milly’s and Ronald’s albums, and the Harris Family Portrait albums (carte de visite and cabinet cards).
Milly/Ronald Albums
Not all photographs in Milly’s and Ronald’s Albums were catalogued when an original project was done in the 1990s.
There is some duplication of images and their assigned numbers as the same photograph can be in both Milly’s and Ronald’s albums; quality and condition vary so look at both images. Milly Harris is the photographer for the majority of images in these two albums, including the grand tour travel photographs to China, Japan and Egypt, etc.
For each photograph in the listing there is both the RC photo# assigned and the page number of digitized photograph album(s); if you find a photograph number not appearing in the listing when reviewing the digital album please contact us at archives.services@uwo.ca.
Correspondence List by Item
The former Series 2: Correspondence from Harris Family Members, Series 3: Correspondence to Harris Family Members, and the Supplement have been integrated to one correspondence series. The series appears under sous-fonds 1: Harris Family Papers, Series 1: Correspondence. The list below includes old and new box numbers. The order replicates the order of the previous series.
Note: Dr. Robin Harris wrote a book based on the diaries of several of the Harris women. In working on the book, he borrowed correspondence from the original donation. Most was returned at the same time as the 1996 or 1997 donations. These items were integrated with the contents of the later donations to document their use. The note: "RH missing" refers to these items. The note: "RH returned" refers to items that were returned and placed back in their original locations before the later donations. Other items are listed as "not in file" or "file not in box", these may have be located elsewhere in the records or in the later donations.
