Professional Biography
I'm Western Libraries' Digitization and Digital Preservation Librarian. I lead digitization projects with a holistic, project planning approach, looking at the resource from its physical form to how the digital surrogate will accessed by our users and how it will be managed years or decades in the future. I manage the preservation of born-digital resources and digitized material. Previously, I worked in metadata and cataloguing, and I have experience wrangling large metadata transfers between digital repositories.
Education
- BA Honours, Queen's University
- MLIS, Western University
Research Interests
My current research looks at digital preservation strategies and priorities as well as digitization project management. I have also presented and published on a variety of topics such as library collections, information literacy, and metadata work.
Teaching Philosophy
While teaching isn't a regular part of my job, I enjoy presenting guest lectures on topics such as digital preservation, digitization, and metadata work. I like to keep my talks casual and participatory, with a combination of theory and real world, practical examples.
